In the last few weeks, since we ordered and received our PRP (platelet rich plasma), I started reading hundreds of pages of literature and studies in that regard. I feel that the direction of pain management is going toward helping body repair the painful structure. It could be a bad knee joint or a damaged spinal cord.
Another great revolution on the way is a simple genetic test in ER. They estimated that in about 10 years, if you get involve in a car accident and go to ER, in less than a few hours, we will know if you are a high risk person who may end up with chronic pain following this accident. And new drugs are on the way. The target of medications are more specific receptors in the spinal cord. Future of pain medicine is exciting.
